Tujiin Nars is a pine forest growing on sandy plains, at the southeastern extremity of the taiga forests of Siberia and a continuation of the Khentii Mountains. At first, this pine forest was impassable, and it is said that it was so dense that even the sound of the wind could not be heard in the depths of the forest. Illegal logging destroyed this pine forest and since 2002 it has been protected and thanks to many nature preservationist activists, 7500 hectares of land have been restored, resulting in 40-50% naturally regenerated forest.
